Girls Volleyball
Newark goes 4-0-1 at Plano tournament – Newark defeated Genoa-Kingston, Southland Prep, Peotone and Hinckley-Big Rock along with tying Westmont.
Plano places fourth at own tournament – The Reapers were led by all-tournament standout Clarisa Martinez (38 kills and 12 solo blocks), Albana Hoit (38 assists, 21 points and three aces) and Alexis Smith (27 digs, 11 points, five kills and six aces).
Sandwich places 12th at Plano tournament – The Indians were led by all-tournament standout Clarrisa Lopez (31 kills), Ashley Jones (21 service points) and Melissa Tassone (47 digs).
Batavia finishes 3-2 at Maine West Tourney – The Bulldogs were led by Kristen Koncelik (45 kills and nine blocks) and Heather Meyer (39 digs, nine aces and 36 kills).
Girls Tennis
Chin advances to state – Kelsey Chin of Metea Valley advanced to the state tournament for the third straight year out of the Naperville North sectional.
Women’s Soccer
Lake County 2, Waubonsee Community College 0 – The Chiefs finished the regular season with a record of 6-6 and begin playoff action on Oct. 23.
Girls Cross Country
Metea Valley places third in UEC Valley – Junior Kendall Cast finished second overall for the Mustangs with a three-mile time of 17:39. Rounding out the top five for Metea Valley were Rachel Harris (17th overall), Rachel Dorencz (21st overall), Kathleen Adolf (22nd overall) and Amy Hennessey (23rd overall).
Waubonsie Valley places fourth in UEC Valley – Senior Ashley Bruner finished fifth overall for the Warriors with a three-mile time of 18:07. Rounding out the top five for Waubonsie Valley were Allison Wilson (11th overall), Lauren Newmyer (18th overall), Alison Schenone (30th overall) and Elizabeth Sapoznik (32nd overall).
East Aurora places seventh in UEC Valley – Freshmen Stephanie Nino finished 29th overall for Tomcats with a three-mile time of 20:34. Rounding out the top five for EastAurora Vanessa Martinez (41st overall), Karina Garcia (43rd overall), Nixa Delreal (46th overall) and Diana Carillo (49th overall).
Batavia places fourth in UEC River – Sophomore Lexi Slome finished fifth overall with a three-mile time of 18:00 for the Bulldogs. Rounding out the top five were Dakota Roman (sixth overall), Gracie Ball (11th overall), Alicia Grant (20th overall) and Jenny Muelhbauer (25th overall).
Yorkville wins Northern Illinois Big 12 Tourney – Freshman Skyler Bolllinger finished second overall with a three-mile time of 17:17 for the Foxes. Rounding out the top five for Yorkville were Summer Peirson (fourth overall), Erin Reynolds (fifth overall), Casey Kramer (sixth overall) and Kelsey Leedy (ninth overall).
Kaneland places second at Northern Illinois Big 12 Tourney – Sophomore Victoria Clinton finished third overall with a three-mile time of 18:13. Rounding out the top five for Kaneland were Brianna Bower (eighth overall), Abby Dodis (15th overall), Sydney Strang (18th overall) and Amanda Lesak (21st overall).
West Aurora places seventh in DVC – Senior Claire Loran finished 22nd overall with a three-mile time of 18:29 for the Blackhawks. Rounding out the top five for West Aurora were Alejandra Rios (44th overall), Gabriela Aguilar (49th overall), Miranda Gollwitzer (50th overall) and Kim Coronado (54th overall).
Boys Cross Country
Waubonsie Valley places third UEC Valley – Senior Julian Morrison placed fifth
overall with a three-mile time of 15:29 for the Warriors. Rounding out the top five for Waubonsie Valley were Austin Carlson (10th overall), Garrett Eicher (17th overall), Griffin Eicher (18th overall) Patrick Wolak (25th overall).
East Aurora places fifth in UEC Valley – Sophomore Felipe Nino finished 16th overall with a three-mile time of 15:56 for the Tomcats. Rounding out the top five for East Aurora were Miguel Sanchez (24th overall), Francisco Valtierrez (27th overall), Christian Castro (33rd overall) and David Alvarado (41st overall).
Metea Valley places sixth in UEC Valley – Senior Ekant Desai finished 32nd overall with a three-mile time of 16:39 for the Mustangs. Rounding out the top five for Michael Tierney (34th overall), Tim Danielsen (37th overall), Gabe Malca (38th overall) and Dan Gonzales (39th overall).
Batavia places second in UEC River – Senior Trevor Hollis finished second overall with a three-mile time of 15:27 for the Bulldogs. Rounding out the top five for Batavia were Mitch Zabka (third overall), Chris Orlow (sixth overall), Jordan Berendt (13th overall) and David Morrison (16th overall).
Yorkville wins Northern Illinois Big 12 Tourney – Sophomore Jake Hoffert won the individual title with a three-mile time of 15:14 for the Foxes. Rounding out the top five for Yorkville were Luke Hoffert (third overall), Zak Arcara (fifth overall), Shawn O’Malley (eighth overall), and Nolan Tweedy (10th overall).
Kaneland places fourth at Northern Illinois Big 12 Tourney – Junior Kyle Carter finished 11th overall with a three-mile time of 15:54 for the Knights. Rounding out the top five for Kaneland were Conor Johnson (23rd overall), John Meisenger (27th overall), Nathaniel Kucera (28th overall) and Brandon Huber (28th overall).
West Aurora places sixth in DVC – Senior Omar Gomez finished third overall with a three-mile time of 14:58 for the Blackhawks. Rounding out the top five for West Aurora were Robert Herrera (17th overall), Alan Martinez (24th overall), Graham Isaacson (33rd overall) and Connor McCue (34th overall).
