WOMEN’S SOCCER

Waubonsee 2, Moraine Valley 1 — Waubonsee opened Region IV tournament play with a victory on two goals by Michelle Fabricino. Melissa Martinez had 12 saves in goal for the Chiefs (7-6-1). Waubonsee moves to a semifinal game against Lake County in Grayslake on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Waubonsee honors — Three players on Waubonsee’s women’s soccer team — Sophie Blank, Michelle Fabricino and Katelyn Brown — have been named first team Illinois Skyway All-conference. Named to the second team were Gretchen Tyler, Audrey Mascal and Deziree Ornelas. Blank, Brown and Fabricino were also named to the NCAA Region IV first team with Gretchen Tyler named all-region second team.
