Sophomore boys place 4 in the top 20 at EC Classic

At the Elgin Invitational, the tomcat cross country teams had a successful outing in the Elgin. The sophomore boys placed 4th overall(81pts) by beating Bartlett(120), Dundee-Crown(140), Elgin(142), and South Elgin(242) in the 2 mile race. Sophomores had 4 runners placed in the top 20. Those 4 runners were Cesar Gonzalez(6th, 12:01.8), Ricky Barajas(9th, 12:14.0), Sam Skelly(12:27.3), and Francisco Martinez(12:43.8). Next race of the night for east was the 3 mile varsity girls race. The girls varsity team placed 6th overall in the race. Top two finishers for the girls team were Karla Salas(Sr) with a time of 23:13.3 placing 32nd and Vanessa Martinez(Fr) with a time of 23:47.7 placing 35th. Last race fo the night was the 3 mile boys varsity race. The varsity team placed 4th overall(101pts) right behind Glenbard North(83), Bartlett(74) and Dundee-Crown(29). The top five finishers for the boys were Andy Parra(2nd,16:08.0), Gerardo Paleo(6th, 16:28.6), Hector Ruiz(25th,17:56.8), Felipe Rodriguez(31,18:29.4), and Marcos Gomez(37th,18:59.9).
